For production facilities where floor space is at a premium, the machine can be delivered in a stacked configuration with up to three pin rotor machines mounted on a single frame. This allows you to increase capacity and processing flexibility while minimising the amount of space required in your production line – without compromising performance.
In addition to its factory-friendly design, the Polaron Pin Rotor Machine is built for easy cleaning, servicing, and maintenance. It’s fully compatible with CIP (Clean-in-Place) systems for fast, hygienic cleaning, and all product-contacting parts are made in AISI 316 stainless steel to meet the strict hygiene standards of the food industry.
Semi-balanced, sanitary design seals ensure product safety while simplifying service access, helping you keep downtime to an absolute minimum.
Hygienic and Robust Construction
All product-contact parts are made from food-grade stainless steel with smooth, polished surfaces that minimize product buildup and bacterial growth. The design follows health and safety requirements of Food and Contact Material Regulation (EC) 1935/2004, 3-A standards and FDA guidelines, ensuring compliance with the highest hygienic standards. The closed system eliminates external contamination and supports full CIP cleaning.

The Polaron is designed and built in full compliance with the European Machinery Directive (2006/42/EC) and the European Regulation on Food Contact Materials (EC 1935/2004). The pressure vessel is certified in accordance with the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED 97/23/EC), guaranteeing reliability and safety under demanding operating conditions. Additional certifications, such as ASME approval are available upon request to meet regional or customer-specific requirements.
Cleaning and Maintenance
The unit is fully CIP-compatible and designed for quick access to critical components, minimizing downtime. Wear parts such as seals and bearings are easily replaceable, and optional service packages ensure reliable, long-term operation with minimal maintenance cost.
Floor space
The Pin Rotor machine offers high capacity within a compact layout, making it easy to integrate into existing production lines. Its vertical design and accessibility simplify installation, maintenance, and cleaning, while minimizing floor space requirements. Depending on the model, the PRM occupies maximum up to 22 m² and all the way down to 11 m² of floor space, making it one of the most space-efficient machines on the market.
Modular design
The PRM features a modular and space-efficient design, allowing easy adaptation to different process capacities and layouts. Each unit is available in sizes ranging from 25 to 200 liters with varying rotor speeds, and up to three machines can be stacked vertically to increase residence time or achieve multiple processing stages within a compact footprint. This modular design provides flexibility, enabling customers to expand capacity or customize product texture without major changes to the production line. The result is a scalable, efficient solution that grows with production needs.

The Polaron Pin Rotor machine is designed for precise control of product texture, plasticity, and crystal formation. The rotating pin shafts gently work the product under controlled shear, ensuring uniform consistency and smooth structure. Adjustable rotor speed between 20-900 rpm allows the machine to handle a wide range of fat compositions, viscosities, and products from soft, spreadable margarines to hard puff pastries.

In certain formulations – particularly those based on palm oil, low-fat spreads, or other slow-crystallising fats – additional processing after primary crystallisation can significantly improve product plasticity, texture, and workability. The Polaron Plasticator is an optional downstream unit designed to provide this extra kneading and working of the product.
The Polaron Plasticator is also highly effective in handling broken emulsions. In cases where a product’s emulsion has partially separated during processing, the Plasticator can help restore the correct water-in-oil emulsion structure, preserving product integrity and avoiding waste.
